Armor and Clothing

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Henry wears armor in layers, about ten slots from coif and collar to gambeson, mail, plate and padded legs, and every piece adds defense but also changes his Charisma, noise, visibility and conspicuousness. Armor wears down and is mended with repair kits or by craftsmen, and dirt and blood lower how people treat him until he washes.

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Henry dresses in layers: Game Rant's armor guide uses ten slots (helmet, coif, collar, gambeson, chainmail, chest, arm, gauntlets, padded legs and legs), and each piece adds defense while also changing his Charisma, noise, visibility and conspicuousness. Armor wears out and is mended with repair kits or by craftsmen, and dirt and blood change how people treat him: Warhorse says if you show up "bloodied and bruised from battle and they'll judge you accordingly" (Warhorse on Steam). This page explains the slots and stats, upkeep and washing; the strongest sets are on Best Weapons and Armor.

The layers

Clothing goes on the same body, and the outermost layer is what people see: Game Rant's stealth outfit guide says visibility is worked out from the outer layer. The Gallant Huntsman's Kit DLC adds clothing of this kind, St. Hubert's hunting cap and Nimrod's hunting coat (PLAION).

What each stat means

Defense is protection against the three damage types. Item cards list stab, slash and blunt defense separately; Game Rant's weapon guide says blunt weapons are the answer to plate. Patch 1.2 (Mar 13, 2025) rebalanced how much damage each armor layer receives, armor durability and item weights (Patch 1.2 notes).

Charisma is a derived stat "determined by Henry's clothes and overall appearance", the total of every worn piece up to 30, according to Game Rant's Charisma guide. PCGamesN notes that some armor, such as the Noble Cuirass, carries more Charisma than others; Jezhek's Spurs from the "Lost Honour" quest give +7, per Game Rant. See Speech and Charisma.

Conspicuousness runs from 0 to 100 and is the average of every equipped item's value. Game Rant's explainer says a low value makes Henry harder to spot or recognize, and pursuers give up sooner.

Noise is the average noise of the weapons, armor and clothing worn, and visibility comes from the outer layer, Game Rant says. Plate is loud: PCGamesN says brigandines are much better for stealth than plate. See Stealth, Lockpicking and Pickpocketing.

Weight slows Henry and costs stamina, which the Warfare perk Ironclad eases (armor weight affects stamina less), per PCGamesN's May 2025 perk list.

Perks that change armor

Perk Tree and level Effect
Head Protection Warfare 6 Head damage -20% with a helmet
Rock Solid Warfare 10 +20 armor after 10 seconds without sprinting or dodging
Ironclad Warfare 12 Armor weight affects stamina less
"Knight in Shining Armour" Warfare 14 Charisma bonus in plate (+1 to +4, Game Rant)
Undaunted Cavalier Main level 8 Charisma above 20 adds armor
Deceptive Stance Stealth 12 +3 Warfare without armor
Well-Dressed Vitality 10 Dirt builds 20% slower; a tub removes all dirt
Well-Fitted Craftsmanship 6 Self-repaired gear is quieter
Thorough Maintenance Craftsmanship 8 Gear degrades 10% slower (II at 14: 20% less damage)
Helping Hand Craftsmanship 8 Craftsmen repair 20% cheaper
Never Surrender Vitality 18 Armor bonus below 25 health

Durability and repair

Armor and clothes lose condition in fights and with wear. There are kits for each material, TheGamer's repair guide says: an "Armourer's kit" for metal armor and mail, a Tailor's kit for cloth, a Cobbler's kit for leather and boots, plus Blacksmith's, Gunsmith's and Marksman's kits for weapons. Select the kit in the inventory, choose use, pick the items and confirm; some repairs stay locked until Craftsmanship is high enough.

Craftsmen repair for money. TheGamer says tailors mend clothing and armorers metal armor, with a full outfit costing a few hundred groschen, and prices can be haggled. Repairing gear also trains Craftsmanship, per Game Rant's smithing guide; the Keen Eye perk adds Craftsmanship experience when you pay for repairs (PCGamesN).

Dirt, blood and washing

Dirt and blood on Henry and his clothes hurt his standing in conversation, so wash often. TheGamer's beginner tips say troughs outside taverns clean only the face, laundry spots by lakes clean clothes, and paid baths clean best. Game Rant's Charisma guide adds that clothes are washed with Soap at a laundry spot on a pier and that bathhouses also restore health and stamina.

Some perks turn dirt to Henry's advantage. Natural Camouflage (Stealth 8) makes a dirtier Henry harder to notice, a perk Patch 1.5 fixed on Nov 11, 2025 (Patch 1.5 notes). In Hardcore Mode the negative perk Sweaty makes clothes dirty faster and stealth much harder (Game Rant).

Looks beyond armor

Charisma also comes from grooming. Patch 1.2 added barbers in Zhelejov and Kuttenberg (Warhorse), and any haircut gives a temporary Charisma boost, per PCGamesN. Perfumes brewed by alchemy raise it too: Lion Perfume strongly and briefly, Mintha Perfume slightly but for longer, and mixing perfumes lowers it (PCGamesN's potion list).

Bonus armor sets

Several sets come from DLC and events. The Lion's Crest quest, a $4.99 Steam DLC since Mar 28, 2025, rewards Knight Brunswick's full plate, a polearm, a dagger and a caparison (Warhorse). Launch Twitch Drops gave two sets that all players could earn from Mar 17, 2025 as PROS Quest Rewards by playing (Warhorse). Patch 1.4 (Sep 9, 2025) slightly lowered the stats of the Brunswick set and the other Twitch and PROS items (Patch 1.4 notes). See DLC and Expansion Pass.

Frequently asked questions

How do armor layers work in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2? In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 each body part takes several pieces worn together, such as a helmet, coif and mail collar on the head, or a gambeson, chainmail and a plate or brigandine on the chest. Game Rant's tables use ten armor slots.

How do you increase Charisma with clothing in KCD2? In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Charisma is the total of what Henry wears, up to 30, so noble clothes and fine armor raise it; keeping clean, a haircut and perfume help too, according to Game Rant and PCGamesN.

What is conspicuousness in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2? Conspicuousness in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a 0 to 100 average of every equipped item; the lower it is, the harder Henry is to spot or recognize and the sooner pursuers give up, Game Rant says.

How do you repair armor in KCD2? In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 you repair armor with an "Armourer's kit" (metal and mail), a Tailor's kit (cloth) or a Cobbler's kit (leather), or pay an armorer or tailor; TheGamer says a full outfit costs a few hundred groschen.

How do you wash clothes in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2? In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 you wash clothes with Soap at a laundry spot on a pier, or pay for a bathhouse, which cleans best; troughs only clean Henry's face, TheGamer says.

Is plate armor bad for stealth in KCD2? Yes: PCGamesN says brigandines are much better for stealth than plate in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, because noise is the average of everything Henry wears.
