Hans Capon
Hans Capon is the young lord and heir to Rattay, Henry's closest friend and companion through most of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, voiced by Luke Dale; he can be romanced, and the story ends with his arranged marriage still ahead of him.
Hans Capon is Henry's closest friend in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: the heir to Rattay and the nephew of Sir Hanush of Leipa, who rides out with Henry at the start, spends much of the story captured, rescued or quarreling with him, and is voiced by Luke Dale (Warhorse's live-action credits). Deep Silver's character page calls him pompous but carefree and an exceptional archer (Deep Silver). He returns from the first game, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, where he already had a story DLC of his own, and in the sequel he can be romanced. The rest of the cast is on Characters.

Who Hans is
Hans is a young nobleman raised under his uncle's guardianship. TheGamer's returning characters guide describes him as the heir to Rattay and Henry's close friend, and says Sir Hanush gives him bigger roles in the sequel while pushing him to marry. In the first game Hans was the subject of the DLC The Amorous Adventures of Bold Sir Hans Capon (Warhorse's DLC list).
His friendship with Henry crosses a class line the game keeps visible. Hanush still treats Henry as a servant (TheGamer), and Hans swings between treating Henry as an equal and as his retainer. Guide outlets describe two new threads for him in the sequel: an archery arc and an arranged marriage (TheGamer).
Hans in the Trosky story
This section and the next reveal events from the whole main story.
The game opens on Hans in danger. In the flash-forward prologue, played as Father Godwin at the siege of Suchdol, the scene ends on the line "Sir Hans has been hit" before jumping back in time (Game Rant's preview). The story proper starts with Henry and Hans riding to Trosky Castle to deliver a letter (TheGamer).
Hans teaches Henry to fight on the road. In Easy Riders he gives sword training in blocks, perfect blocks and ripostes, ending in a bout between the two (Game Rant's Easy Riders walkthrough). Beating him earns the achievement "Déjà Vu" ("You defeated Capon during practice. Again."), which 67.9% of Steam players held on Oct 25, 2026. The same quest ends when Hans steps in to defend a woman attacked in the reeds, the fight that sends Henry over a cliff.
The friends fall out at Semine. In Laboratores they try to work their way into the wedding at Fort Semine, end up in the stocks, and Hans turns on Henry and storms off (TheGamer's Laboratores walkthrough). After the wedding brawl in Wedding Crashers both end up in a cell, and in For Whom the Bell Tolls Henry is freed while Hans faces the gallows; Henry has 12 hours to cure Captain Thomas, who can vouch for them.
Hans's opinion of Henry follows Henry's choices. In Necessary Evil, torturing the captured bandit costs a lot of reputation with Hans (Game Rant's Necessary Evil walkthrough). Hans waits in the castle courtyard walkway at 7 PM to start For Victory!, the feast before the march on Nebakov (Game Rant's For Victory! walkthrough).
Hans then becomes Jan Žižka's prisoner. When Godwin reaches Nebakov in Divine Messenger, Žižka asks whether Hanush has sent a ransom for Hans, and none has come (TheGamer's Divine Messenger walkthrough). Žižka later frees Henry and Hans, and the act ends with the group's escape from Trosky in Storm.
Hans in the Kuttenberg story
Hans is a prisoner again when the story reaches Kuttenberg. In Taking French Leave, Rosa Ruthard explains how to break into Maleshov Castle and free him; he is held with the French knight Vauquelin Brabant, has become claustrophobic and refuses the escape tunnel, and the game ends if Hans or Brabant dies (Game Rant's Taking French Leave walkthrough).
His marriage is arranged behind his back. In The King's Gambit, Godwin wins Botscheck of Kunstadt as an ally by offering Hans as a suitor for his daughter, with Hanush's approval (TheGamer's King's Gambit walkthrough). TheGamer's look at loose ends says Godwin arranges the marriage without telling Hans, who plans to fake illness.
During the siege of Suchdol he is hungry and, for once, not in charge. In Hunger and Despair Hans asks Henry for food that the castle no longer has (TheGamer's Hunger and Despair walkthrough), and the romance can end with a kiss goodbye there. In the second Last Rites, Godwin gets drunk with Hans before the final assault (TheGamer's Last Rites walkthrough).
The story closes with the wedding still to come. In Judgment Day, Hanush tells Henry about Capon's wedding if Samuel lived (TheGamer's Judgment Day walkthrough), and TheGamer says Henry and Hans plan to stay in the Kuttenberg region before Hans goes back to Rattay (TheGamer). The whole plot is on Story and Main Quest Walkthrough and the ways it can end on Endings.
Romancing Hans
Hans is one of the five full romances. Game Rant's Hans guide lists the heart options: "I care about you" in Back in the Saddle, "We'll manage it together." in Taking French Leave, the matching option in The Italian Job, then "Kiss Him" during Hunger and Despair. TheGamer's Hans guide adds that he must be saved before the bell's twelfth ring in For Whom the Bell Tolls, and that the optional activity Like Old Times can only be triggered before Into the Underworld.
The Hans romance shuts out Katherine's. Game Rant says romancing either locks out the other (Game Rant's Katherine guide), while the quick romances at the For Victory! feast do not affect Hans (Game Rant). Every option is on Romance.
The real Hans Capon
Hans is one of the historical figures in the cast. Game Rant counts him among the real people who appear in the game (Game Rant's history list). TheGamer's history explainer says he is based on Jan Ptáček of Pirkštejn, who like Hans was under his uncle Hanush's guardianship after his father died; the real Jan was 15 in 1403, so Warhorse aged Hans up to 20.
The marriage has a real root too. TheGamer says his match with Jitka of Kunstadt is largely invented, though probably arranged (TheGamer). Deep Silver's own description says Hans is based on a real lord of Rattay whose guardians were the Lords of Leipa (Deep Silver). The wider history is on Historical Background.
Luke Dale
Luke Dale voices and plays Hans in both games. Warhorse's credits for its live-action series list "Luke / Hans: Luke Dale", and Warhorse said Dale and Tom McKay had worked with the studio for "nearly ten years" (Warhorse, Feb 17, 2025). The two actors narrated the reveal video of Apr 18, 2024 (God is a Geek) and starred in that scripted series, touring Kutná Hora in modern dress (Warhorse, Nov 7, 2024).
Dale has spoken about the director's grip on the project. He praised Daniel Vávra's "forensic understanding" of the game's vision (GamingBolt). More on the cast is on Voice Cast and Music.
