Best early weapons

9:02 The early game rewards a few free finds. PCGamesN's armor guide says a Broadsword (Strength 12 / Agility 16, per its sword guide) and a Patched Cuirass lie in the wolf den at the end of the Mutt quest. PCGamesN also points to the Knight's Longsword (8 / 11), one of the lowest-requirement real longswords, and the Toledo Steel Sword (12 / 15), the reward of The Hermit.

Trosky Castle's blacksmith sells a ladder of one-handed swords, PCGamesN says: the Falchion (10 / 11), the Noble's Sword (14 / 19) and the Knight's Sword (18 / 22). For a mace, Game Rant's heavy weapons ranking names the Captain's Mace (blunt 129) from the blacksmith at Trosky Castle for about 139 groschen, and the Broad Axe from Radovan, the first blacksmith.

Two more early swords come from quests: "Rikonaris' Sabre" (14 / 17), forged during The Voivode's Curse, and Balshan's Sword (14 / 19) from Bellatores, where the Balshanka polearm also leans against a wagon (PCGamesN, Game Rant).

13:25 The Lion's Crest quest, sold as $4.99 Steam DLC and included in the Royal Edition, gives Knight Brunswick's full plate, a polearm and a dagger (Warhorse). TheGamer notes that pre-order gear waits in the chest in Henry's room at the Troskowitz blacksmith.

Best swords and longswords

Radzig Kobyla's sword is the consensus best longsword. Game Rant's reforging guide says Henry takes it by defeating Istvan Toth in the main quest Storm and keeps it; reforging it needs Kuttenberg, Craftsmanship 26 and 3 Toledo Steel and makes a Quality III longsword, while Quality IV needs the Martin's Secret perk and a perfect forging run. Game Rant warns that reheating the blade a second time drops its quality by one tier. PCGamesN lists the unreforged sword at Strength 14 / Agility 17, and TheGamer gives the best reforged version 199 stab and 190 slash.

The Sword of Sir Valentine (15 / 22) is PCGamesN's best one-handed sword, forged from a recipe found in The Reliquary task. TheGamer gives its top version 165 stab and 155 slash with a weight of 3.

Best heavy weapons and polearms

The Ramhead Hammer tops Game Rant's heavy weapons ranking with 154 blunt, the highest of any blunt weapon; Henry takes it from Andrew Ramhead in Raborsch during The Thunderstone, by stealing it or looting his chest key. Second is the Trollbane Warhammer (blunt 148), lying near a bridge by the charcoal burners' camp in Bylanka Valley, whose quality Patch 1.4 raised (Patch 1.4 notes). For axes, Game Rant ranks the Knight's Axe (40 stab, 129 slash, 64 blunt), crafted from a sketch in a chest at Humble Knight's Camp northwest of Sedletz Monastery.

The Poleaxe (116 stab, 166 slash, 83 blunt) leads Game Rant's polearm ranking, looted around Kuttenberg and Suchdol; Game Rant says the top-quality version needs Henry's own forging with Martin's Secret. The Guisarme (104 / 149 / 74) is second, sold by the blacksmith in Sigismund's Camp, and TheGamer also ranks it among the game's best weapons.

Best shields

The Lord of Holohlavy Heater Shield (defense 275, durability 50) is Game Rant's best shield, the reward Jezhek of Holohlavy gives for the side quest "Lost Honour". The Lord of Suchotlesky Heater Shield (275) comes from the Ransom side quest in Kuttenberg.

The best early shield is the Von Bergow Knight Shield (263), which Game Rant says is dug from a grave southwest of Troskowitz with a spade. The Shield of Spring, from the Shields of Seasons Passing DLC, has the same stats and unlocks in Wedding Crashers.

The best early armor is bought in the Trosky region. PCGamesN says the blacksmith in Tachov sells an Italian Hauberk for 180 groschen and a Smooth Cuirass for 440, and that Radovan gives a Rusty Sheet Cuirass for The Jaunt.
