Legacy of the Forge is the second story DLC for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, released on Sep 9, 2025 with Patch 1.4 and sold for $13.99 on Steam. In about 15 hours of story, PLAION says, Henry joins Kuttenberg's blacksmiths' guild and takes over the long-abandoned forge where his adoptive father Martin trained, then rebuilds it, earns Prestige and reunites Martin's old colleagues to finish the city's astronomical clock. It starts at an abandoned building in east Kuttenberg once the main story reaches the city.

Release and price

Warhorse announced Legacy of the Forge on Aug 19, 2025, calling it "a more personal kind of adventure", and showed it live in a dev stream on Aug 27, 2025. It went live on Sep 9, 2025 at 5 PM CEST (8 AM PDT) with Patch 1.4, which also brought an upgraded photo mode, an adaptive HUD and, in Warhorse's words, "Henry has finally been re-taught how to cook eggs" (Warhorse on Steam).

It costs $13.99 on Steam and is the second of the three story expansions in the $29.99 Expansion Pass, between Brushes with Death and Mysteria Ecclesiae; the Royal Edition includes it too. See DLC and Expansion Pass.

How to start Legacy of the Forge

The DLC needs the main story to reach Kuttenberg. Game Rant's start guide says to finish the Trosky main quests through Storm and then The Sword and the Quill and Speak of the Devil, and PowerPyx agrees that Speak of the Devil is the trigger. All of its activities stay available after the main story ends.

The start is a purple icon on an abandoned building in east Kuttenberg, across from a laundry pond near the Hole in the Wall tavern, per Game Rant; PowerPyx describes it as a purple anvil in the southeast of the city. Game Rant says a few hundred groschen is enough to begin.

The story

Legacy of the Forge is Henry's family story. PLAION's launch release says the forge is where Henry's adoptive father Martin trained, and that Henry sets out to restore it and bring Martin's former colleagues, each a master craftsman, back together to finish Kuttenberg's astronomical clock. Steam's description calls it a "legendary burnt-down forge" and promises "your own home in the heart of Kuttenberg" (Steam). In the first game Henry grew up as a Skalitz blacksmith's son whose parents died when Sigismund's forces raided the village (Deep Silver); see Henry of Skalitz.

The clock is a real loss. Kuttenberg's old town hall and its astronomical clock no longer exist, so Warhorse modeled them on similar buildings in the region, per Game Rant's interview with Warhorse's Tobias Stolz-Zwilling. Restoring it earns the achievement Martin's Legacy.

Adept is the guild's trial. Master Bushek offers a guild handbook for 100 groschen and walks Henry to the trial, whose answers Game Rant gives as "That depends" (sparks), "Straw yellow" (correctly heated metal), "To keep rhythm" (why smiths whistle), "Quenching" (the final step) and "By the shape" (how progress shows). It ends with forging a Blacksmiths' Guild longsword; a Bronze result can be retried for 200 groschen without answering again. See Blacksmithing.

Passing makes Henry a guild master. The achievement Master of the Blacksmiths' Guild ("You passed the Trial and became a Master blacksmith.") is held by 19.8% of Steam players (Oct 25, 2026).

Rebuilding the forge and Prestige

Prestige is the DLC's new stat, and it gates the forge's upgrades. Game Rant's Prestige guide lists its sources: the DLC's quests, three daily guild quests posted at 9:00 AM after Klaus' introduction task, commissions, church donations to Father Frantishek, archery, dice, duels and Master Klaus Eichner's investigations.

The guild has three people to know. Master Klaus Eichner gives investigations and the introduction task, Magdalena handles commissions and the Sales Chest, and Master Bushek the Elder, near the Hangman's Halter tavern, holds recipe sketches (Game Rant). PCGamesN says the repeatable commissions raise both Prestige and coin (PCGamesN); see Money Making Guide.

The forge becomes Henry's home. PLAION says its exterior, private quarters and yard can be customized in over 100 million combinations, and that furniture and upgrades give buffs, such as beds that speed learning (PLAION). PCGamesN lists the exterior, workshop, private quarters and garden as the parts Henry renovates (PCGamesN).

Upgrade Prestige Cost Effect
Circular Chandelier 8 360 groschen +10% Prestige, better reading
Rustic Stove 10 460 groschen +10% Prestige, better sleep
Raven (Chamber) 25 3,500 groschen Earns the Nevermore achievement

Guild activities and investigations

The daily guild activities vary, and some are one-offs. PowerPyx warns that missable achievements come from random daily activities and that failing a unique one may stop it from coming back. Its examples include returning stolen documents to the Ragman, getting evidence from an underground area without killing anyone, an alchemist investigation and donating 2,000 groschen to repair the Old Kutna bell.

Rewards

The forge itself is the main reward: a home and workshop in Kuttenberg with a bed, upgrades that boost learning and sleep, and a steady income from commissions. The DLC also adds armor sketches; Game Rant's armor guide names the Kuttenberg Plate Legs (defense 134), made from a sketch for Armorer IV, and its horse guide lists the Knights of Hradetz's Horse (55 speed, 30 courage), stolen west of St. Barbara's Cathedral with Legacy of the Forge installed.

Achievement How
Master of the Blacksmiths' Guild Pass the guild trial (Adept)
Home Sweet Home! Finish rebuilding the smithy
Martin's Legacy Restore the Kuttenberg astronomical clock (The Last Step)
Nevermore Buy the raven for Henry's chamber
Racing the Leech Beat the guard Leech in a horse race (Martin's Dream)
Two Brothers Settle the Raven and Koniash dispute without a fight
The Ragman's Dream Return the stolen documents to the Ragman
Silent Partner Get the evidence from underground without killing
Voice of the Bell Pay for the Old Kutna bell and hear it ring
Warlock's Riddle Finish the alchemist investigation and collect
Innovator Collect every sketch and buy each crafted item

Source: PowerPyx's roadmap. On Steam, 13.1% of players have Home Sweet Home! and 12.5% Martin's Legacy, and The Ragman's Dream (2.5%) is among the game's rarest (Oct 25, 2026). See Trophies and Achievements.

Fixes since launch

Hotfix 1.5.1 on Nov 14, 2025 fixed smithery items vanishing after travel or after seven days. PowerPyx puts the whole DLC at 10 to 20 hours for every achievement. See Patches and Updates.
