Mods and Modding Tools
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has official mod support on PC since Patch 1.2 (Mar 13, 2025), with Steam Workshop integration, over 300 moddable game elements and a free Modding Tools download built on Warhorse's CryEngine Sandbox. Mods install from the Workshop or by hand into the game's mods folder; consoles have no mod support.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 supports mods officially on PC: Warhorse Studios turned on Steam Workshop integration with Patch 1.2 on Mar 13, 2025, opening over 300 game elements, from the interface and combat to RPG systems and AI, to modders. A separate free download, the Kingdom Come: Deliverance II Modding Tools, gives creators Warhorse's own build of the CryEngine Sandbox editor. Players can subscribe to mods on the Steam Workshop or install them by hand into a mods folder, and the most popular early mods, which press outlets rounded up within days of launch, removed the Savior Schnapps limit on saving, food spoilage and the map's fog. Consoles have no mod support. This page covers the tools, how mods load, how to install them, what the press has highlighted, and the PC console commands that work alongside them.

Official modding and Patch 1.2
Warhorse announced official modding on Feb 12, 2025, eight days after launch, in a Steam post saying it was coming "on Steamworks" (Warhorse). It went live with Patch 1.2 on Mar 13, 2025, which Warhorse announced with the words "Bohemia is yours to shape" (Warhorse).
Patch 1.2 was the game's first large update. PLAION's press release (Mar 14, 2025) says it brought over 1,000 fixes and improvements, the free Barber Mode and official Steam Workshop modding with over 300 modifiable elements, "from UI and combat mechanics to RPG elements and AI behavior". Every update since is on Patches and Updates.
The Modding Tools
The Kingdom Come: Deliverance II Modding Tools are a separate Steam download for creators. Warhorse's modding guide on Deep Silver's site (Mar 14, 2025) says the package includes Editor.exe, "our build of the CryEngine Sandbox", and a development build of the game with debugging commands, an internal web server for live changes and support for loose files. Workshop mods do not run inside the tools.
The engine is Warhorse's own. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 runs on CryEngine under license from Crytek, as Deep Silver's product page states, and the editor in the Modding Tools is Warhorse's own build of that engine's Sandbox. The game's history is on Development History.
How mods are built and loaded
Mods follow a fixed folder format. Warhorse's guide says each mod lives in its own folder under mods/ in the game's root folder, with a mod.manifest file; everything except mod.manifest and mod.cfg must be packed into .pak files, which are uncompressed ZIP archives (Deep Silver).
Load order decides which mod wins when two change the same thing. Workshop mods load first, in the order the Steam API gives them, then manual mods in mods/ alphabetically, or exactly in the order listed in mods/mod_order.txt. If you use mod_order.txt, a mod not listed in it does not load, Warhorse's guide warns.
How to install mods
The simplest way is the Steam Workshop. Subscribe to a mod on the game's Workshop page and Steam handles the download; Workshop mods load before manual ones. Warhorse points players to "the KCD II Steam Workshop" in its own mod roundups (Aug 14, 2025).
Manual mods go into the mods folder. Download the mod, place its folder (with its mod.manifest and .pak files) into mods/ in the game's root folder, creating mods/ if it is not there, and add it to mods/mod_order.txt if you use one. Third-party mod managers work but are not officially supported, Warhorse's guide says.
Update mods before a patch. When Patch 1.4 shipped on Sep 9, 2025, Warhorse warned that outdated mods "may cause issues or even make the game unplayable" (Warhorse). The latest patch, 1.5.6, came on Jun 25, 2026, and Warhorse had announced none after it by Oct 6, 2026, per its Steam news feed.
Mods on Nexus Mods
Mods arrived before official support. PCGamesN's best mods list (Paul Kelly, updated Feb 8, 2025), written four days after launch, links every one of its picks to Nexus Mods:

Saving was the first thing modders changed. PCGamesN reported that "the biggest frustration" of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 had already been fixed by a mod (PCGamesN), meaning saving without Savior Schnapps. The game's own saving rules are on Saving and Savior Schnapps.
Mods Warhorse has highlighted
Warhorse promotes Workshop mods in its own Steam posts. Its August 2025 roundup (Aug 14, 2025) picked, among others, a mod that turns Pebbles into a zebra, one for "easier saves" for players who are not in the Hardcore Mode camp, and one that keeps herb picking in first person, adding "We made herb picking in third person, but some prefer to stay in first."
Its Halloween 2025 list (Oct 29, 2025) named eight Workshop mods: Hellhound, 4K New Blood Splatters, Skeleton Mod, Realish Wounds, 500x Facial Animations, Ghost Pebbles, Black Herring and Realish Poisons. Pebbles and Herring, the game's two story horses, are on Horses.
Console commands on PC
The PC version has a developer console that works without mods. PCGamesN's console command list (Paul Kelly, Feb 27, 2026) says to add -devmode to the game's Steam launch options and press the tilde key (~) in game. Commands it lists include:
| Command | Effect (PCGamesN) |
|---|---|
| wh_cheat_money ## | Adds groschen |
| wh_cheat_additem | Adds an item by its ID |
| we_sys_nosavepotion = 1 | Save without Savior Schnapps |
| cheat_set_wanted_level=0 | Stops guards searching for you |
| player_revealFow | Removes the map's fog |
| cl_fov | Sets the field of view |
| wh_plshowfirecursor 1 | Shows a reticle when aiming |
| wh_horse_stealcurrenthorse | Makes a stolen horse yours |

Consoles and other platforms
Mods are a PC feature. Warhorse's guide covers only the Steam version, and no official page announces mods on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S. The Nintendo Switch 2 Royal Edition, announced for 2027, has no mod support announced either (Deep Silver, Sep 8, 2026). What each platform offers is on PC Requirements and Performance and Editions and Where to Buy.

Saving and Savior SchnappsKingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has no free quicksave: you save by drinking a Savior Schnapps, sleeping in a bed you own, using Save and Quit from the menu, or through autosaves at quest milestones. Savior Schnapps is brewed from wine, one nettle and two belladonna, or bought cheaply at taverns and apothecaries.

HorsesHenry's first horse in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is Pebbles, his mare from the first game, recovered at the Semine stables with a Speech check or for a fee; riding her about 35 km unlocks the hidden perk Good Old Pebbles. Herring is offered at Trosky Castle, more than 20 other horses are sold or stolen, and Update 1.3 added free horse racing. -
Money Making GuideThe fastest legal groschen in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 come from archery and fistfight contests, Riddler Barley (550 groschen for four riddles), dice, treasure maps, brewing and selling potions, blacksmithing and, in Kuttenberg, the weekly tournament (over 1,000 groschen a win in later rounds). Theft pays too, but stolen goods must go to a fence such as Whitebeard, who holds only 240 groschen.
