Money Making Guide

The fastest legal groschen in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 come from archery and fistfight contests, Riddler Barley (550 groschen for four riddles), dice, treasure maps, brewing and selling potions, blacksmithing and, in Kuttenberg, the weekly tournament (over 1,000 groschen a win in later rounds). Theft pays too, but stolen goods must go to a fence such as Whitebeard, who holds only 240 groschen.

The quickest legal money in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 comes from contests and one-off windfalls: the archery range near Troskowitz, Riddler Barley's riddles (550 groschen in all, per Game Rant), dice, and treasure maps whose chests hold roughly 150 to 380 groschen each in Game Rant's map guides. For steady income you craft and sell, brewing potions or forging at a smithy, and once you reach Kuttenberg the weekly tournament pays over 1,000 groschen a win in its later rounds. Groschen is the game's currency, and money is tight in the Trosky region at the start, when Henry has almost nothing. Theft and looting pay as well, with the risks that come with them. This page gathers every method guide outlets have sourced, with their numbers; Patch 1.2 (Mar 13, 2025) rebalanced many prices, so early-2025 figures may have moved.

Selling and haggling

Haggle on every trade, buying and selling. TheGamer's beginner tips (Feb 4, 2025) give a method: offer between your best price and the market price, then counter halfway between your last offer and the merchant's. Haggling also raises Speech, as PCGamesN's leveling guide notes, and Speech in turn makes better deals. In PCGamesN's May 2025 perk list, the Speech perk Silver Tongue adds 4 to haggling and Polished Wares adds 10% when selling near-perfect equipment.

Merchants have limited money. Patch 1.2 changed the trade screen so the game no longer asks you to haggle after you agree to sell for "all of the NPC's current wealth" (Patch 1.2 notes), so spread big sales across several traders. Patch 1.2 also rebalanced how an item's quality affects its price, so repair gear before you sell it. Selling is covered on Speech and Charisma.

Sell the pre-order gear early. TheGamer's money guide (Feb 4, 2025) says the chest in Henry's room at the Troskowitz blacksmith holds it, and it sells for early money.

Contests: archery, fistfights and the tournament

The archery competition near Troskowitz is the first contest worth playing. TheGamer's money guide says it opens during the search for Mutt, west of the Trosky region just east of the lakes: beat two shooters over three shots, and on the beginner option a 5 groschen bet returns 10 more "in just a few minutes". Game Rant's early-game list (Feb 5, 2025) recommends the range west of Troskowitz for early groschen and notes that the game has no crosshair. More on Bows and Crossbows.

Fistfights pay too. PCGamesN's money guide (Feb 5, 2025) lists the archery and fistfighting contests at Kezvan the Miller's among its legal methods, and fistfights also train Strength and Unarmed.

The Kuttenberg tournament is the biggest contest. Game Rant's tournament guide (Feb 21, 2025) explains:

  • It runs every 7 days with three events (Sword & Shield, Longsword, Free Combat), each costing 100 groschen to enter; only winners are paid.
  • The first tournament paid 200 groschen plus a Shell Hunting Sword, a Horseman's Pick or a Kuttenberg Heater Shield; later events pay over 1,000 groschen each and items such as a Noble's Bascinet.
  • To unlock it, finish Ars Dimicatoria (start with Menhard von Frankfurt on Kuttenberg's market street), then ask Menhard or Master Nicholas of Prague at the swordfighting guild.
  • Waiting at the guild for the next one costs about 30 groschen for a day or two and at least 100 groschen for over five days. Claim prizes from the chest marked "Open", not "Rob".

Warhorse confirms the tournament repeats every week in its side quests post (Feb 13, 2025). The city itself is on Kuttenberg.

Riddler Barley

Riddler Barley pays 550 groschen for four answers. He is a random encounter on long fast-travel trips who asks one riddle per meeting and stops appearing after the fourth, according to TheGamer's Barley guide (Feb 12, 2025):

Riddle Answer Wager Reward
First "My Name" None 150 groschen (or a skill XP buff)
Second "10" 100 200
Third "Jaromir" 150 300
Fourth "Five" 150 300

Source: TheGamer's Riddler Barley guide, Feb 12, 2025. Game Rant's money guide (Feb 10, 2025) totals the cash rewards for all his riddles at 550 groschen.

Dice

Dice is played in every tavern and at many roadsides. TheGamer's money guide says you start by wagering 10 to 20 groschen and can bet hundreds with high rollers in Kuttenberg's taverns. PCGamesN says a gold badge is needed for the 300-coin "Emperor" matches, and Patch 1.2 "Added more money to some dice players". The rules, scoring and badges are on Dice.

Badges and loaded dice tilt the odds. TheGamer's badge guide (Feb 12, 2025) rates the Gold Wedding Badge, won at the wedding dice tournament in Semine, which lets you rethrow up to three dice once a game. Game Rant says the Weighted Die (Jan 9, 2026) rolls a one about 66.7% of the time; it lies in an unlocked chest in a small cave north of the Easy Riders camp's lakeside.

Dice can also cost you. The achievement The Lord Taketh Away, for losing ten thousand groschen, is held by 13.7% of Steam players (Oct 25, 2026).

Treasure maps

Treasure maps lead to chests of coin and valuables. Game Rant's map guides give these hauls:

Map Where the map is Treasure (Game Rant)
Map Left by the Deceased Hard-locked chest by the white storage building, east side of Troskowitz cemetery 157 groschen, a golden cross with garnets, 3 Savior Schnapps, 3 silver cups (guide)
Caught Thief's Map From Black Bartosch at Trosky Castle: pickpocket him, win it at dice, or buy it for 250 groschen 328 groschen, an Engraved Gemstone Ring, 4 Frankfurt Steel, 2 bandages (guide)
Lower Semine Woodcutters' Map Storage box at the Woodcutters' Camp southwest of Lower Semine Mill 381 groschen (guide)
Vidlak Bandit's Map A northern bandit camp 300 groschen, a Golden Crucifix, a Silver Cup, 2 Tin Plates (guide)

Game Rant says the Vidlak treasure's Golden Crucifix can sell for over 1,000 groschen to the right merchant, which makes it the best single find on the list. More maps are on Side Quests and Trosky Region.

Alchemy

Brewing potions saves money first and earns it later. Game Rant's early-game list says to buy the Marigold Decoction recipe for about 150 groschen and brew healing potions rather than buy them; TheGamer (Feb 5, 2025) says Marigold Decoction costs about 20 to 80 groschen at apothecaries. Marigold grows right outside the Troskowitz apothecary's alchemy station and Nettle along the road west of its shed, and both regrow after an in-game week away, per Game Rant's alchemy leveling guide (Feb 19, 2025).

Two perks turn alchemy into income. PCGamesN recommends Potion Seller, which adds 30% to potion sale prices, and Lucky Find; Secret of Matter (Alchemy 8) makes one extra potion per brew and Secret of Matter II (Alchemy 14) three, though each excludes its matching Secret of Equilibrium perk. Recipes are on Alchemy and Potion Recipes.

Hunting and herbs

Herbs and game sell better with the right perk. The Survival perk On the Poacher's Trail doubles the sale price of herbs, game, hides and trophies, in PCGamesN's May 2025 perk list. Patch 1.2 raised the price you get for herbs and rebalanced the price of meat and other animal loot (Patch 1.2 notes).

Patch 1.2 also closed one hunting loophole: "Fixed players being able to easily make money by killing poachers repeatedly." Whether a kill counts as poaching, and what that means for selling the meat, is on Crime and Reputation.

Blacksmithing

Forging items for sale is the steady crafting income in the Trosky region. Game Rant's money guide names the Tachov blacksmith job in Wedding Crashers: horseshoes, swords and work axes are easy to make and sell, and better precision sells for more. PCGamesN lists smithing for Radovan among its legal methods. Patch 1.2 added horseshoe recipes to more merchants. The minigame is on Blacksmithing.

Legacy of the Forge adds paid smith work in Kuttenberg. The second story DLC brings paid commissions from guild members and a Sales Chest run by Magdalena, according to Game Rant's prestige guide (Sep 10, 2025), and PCGamesN (Aug 26, 2025) says its repeatable commissions raise both guild prestige and coin. See Legacy of the Forge.

Theft, fences and looting

Stolen goods sell only to a fence or after their stolen mark fades. PCGamesN's money guide gives three ways to move them: sell to a fence, wait until the owners stop searching, or hide them among legitimate goods with a reputable merchant. Game Rant notes that stolen items show a small red hand icon.

Whitebeard is the first fence. He trades at the nomads' camp west of Troskowitz but holds only 240 groschen, so a big haul takes several visits, according to Game Rant's fence guide (Feb 6, 2025).

Thief perks speed the business up. In PCGamesN's May 2025 list, Thief's Eyes shows which items are stolen, Trafficker and the Craftsmanship perk Totally Legit make the stolen mark fade faster, and Hustler eases stolen-goods sales. The hidden perk Sticky Fingers unlocks after stealing 10,000 groschen worth of items and makes pickpocketing and looting find more coin, per Game Rant's hidden perks guide (Feb 27, 2025). Methods are on Stealth, Lockpicking and Pickpocketing.

Looting bandits is legal now. Since Patch 1.4 (Sep 9, 2025), "Looting or killing bandits no longer counts as a crime", so their weapons and armor can be sold to ordinary traders. PCGamesN still files theft, murder and looting innocents under illegal money, with the punishments on Crime and Reputation.

Exploits that were fixed

Warhorse closed several money exploits in Patch 1.2. The patch notes list a fixed "exploit with a restocking chest containing a Balanced Die", repeated killing of poachers for money, duplicated quest rewards from stealing an item before finishing its quest, and restocking shootable stashes. The same patch stopped food being free at several Kuttenberg stalls and lowered the value of caravan chest contents. Patch 1.5 (Nov 11, 2025) made chests stop restocking once all their owners are dead.

On PC, the console command wh_cheat_money adds groschen directly, after you add -devmode to the Steam launch options, per PCGamesN's console command list (Feb 27, 2026). See Mods and Modding Tools.

What things cost

Knowing the big costs tells you how much to save. These are the prices outlets reported:

Purchase Price Source
Skill book from a scribe About 150 groschen PCGamesN, Feb 2025
Marigold Decoction recipe About 150 groschen Game Rant, Feb 2025
Italian Hauberk (Tachov) 180 groschen PCGamesN, May 2025
Smooth Cuirass (Tachov) 440 groschen PCGamesN, May 2025
Coach between regions 200 groschen, no haggling TheGamer, Feb 2025
Guns at Prokop Eldris, Kuttenberg About 200 to 1,200 groschen Game Rant, Feb 2025
Expensive Kuttenberg equipment Over 6,000 groschen PCGamesN, May 2025

The achievement Groschen Must Flow, for spending ten thousand groschen, is held by 38.7% of Steam players (Oct 25, 2026). Gear worth saving for is on Best Weapons and Armor.
