Leveling Guide

The fastest way to level in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is to repeat each skill's best activity. Fight in Miller Kreyzl's brawls for Strength, haggle and pass Speech checks for Speech, open his relocking practice chest for lockpicking, and brew Strong Marigold Decoctions for Alchemy. Buy skill books at about 150 groschen each.

The fastest way to level up in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is to repeat the one activity that feeds the skill you want, because every stat and skill rises by use. Strength grows in fist fights and under heavy loads, Speech with haggling and dialogue checks, Thievery at Miller Kreyzl's practice chest, and Alchemy from quick batches of Strong Marigold Decoctions. Every level also raises Henry's main level and earns a point for the Perks trees. The methods below are what PCGamesN, Game Rant and TheGamer recommend, mostly written in early 2025. Patch 1.2 (Mar 13, 2025) rebalanced XP for Vitality, Agility, Thievery, Stealth, Marksmanship and Houndmaster since then. How the system works is on Skills and Stats.

Strength

Fist fights are the fastest early source. PCGamesN's leveling guide points to Miller Kreyzl's tasks Melee at the Mill, More Melee at the Mill and Wine, Women and Blood, then the brawls in Zhelejov and training with Captain Gnarly in Semine. It adds the Survival perk Leg Day, which gives a little Strength for every herb picked, and carrying sacks or bodies for 10 to 20 real minutes.

Heavy gear raises it in combat. Game Rant's stat guide says to fight with a large two-handed weapon in heavy armor, and that a weapon whose Strength requirement sits close to Henry's own gives more XP. Another Game Rant guide notes that being over-encumbered slowly raises Strength too, but it stops fast travel, so do it only somewhere safe. Training fights with Black Bartosch and the other masters also give Strength XP.

Agility and Vitality

Agility rewards light weapons and dodging. Game Rant says to fight with one-handed swords and daggers, dodge instead of parrying, and stay sneaky near enemies, which pays well too.

Vitality rewards spent stamina. Game Rant says to sprint everywhere, jump, vault and land combos. The Vitality perk Balanced Diet adds 10% Vitality XP after 3 days without overeating, per PCGamesN. Game Rant also lists a hidden perk, Resistance, worth +2 Vitality after picking 200 poisonous herbs.

Speech

Speech checks are the main source. Game Rant says passing speech checks in conversation gives the most, and reading gives some, but less. PCGamesN's three habits: haggle every trade one item at a time without angering the merchant, buy Speech books from the scribes, and try a Speech check even when a fight looks certain. The Speech perk Jack of All Trades adds +2 to skill checks and more XP from them. See Speech and Charisma.

Weapon skills and Warfare

Weapon skills rise in real fights and practice duels. PCGamesN says Swords, Heavy Weapons and Polearms grow with use, Unarmed in inn fist fights, and Warfare as the weapon skills rise. Mastering one weapon of a class also helps with the others, Warhorse wrote.

The masters teach combos and give practice partners. Game Rant's trainer guide and PCGamesN's combat guide list four. Patch 1.2 lowered skill-teacher prices.

Marksmanship

Only living targets count. Game Rant's Marksmanship guide says hits on bandits, rabbits, deer, boars and wolves give XP, practice dummies give none, and the first Marksmanship book lies free near Troskowitz. PCGamesN adds archery competitions. Warhorse's Patch 1.2 notes say "training Marksmanship should be noticeably easier now". Radzig's Heritage, a Main Level 10 perk, speeds Marksmanship, Heavy Weapons and Scholarship (PCGamesN).

Lockpicking, pickpocketing and Stealth

Miller Kreyzl runs a thieves' school. Game Rant's lockpicking guide says to talk to him in Lower Semine, accept Materia Prima and choose to learn thievery. His shack holds a very easy chest that locks itself again after each opening, and the first opening gives seven lockpicks. His hired hand Hensel stands in for pickpocketing and takedown practice.

The practice chest stops paying early. Game Rant says it teaches nothing past Thievery 9 and Stealth 6. After that, pick real locked chests at night, because harder locks pay more XP. PCGamesN adds Kreyzl's Thievery books, pickpocketing sleeping bandits at night, and unlocking doors in villages such as Troskowitz with no guards near, and calls the practice chest slow.

A hidden perk rewards the habit. Game Rant says opening 20 locks with lockpicks unlocks Tool Master: picks last 15% longer, and a broken pick comes back after a success. See Stealth, Lockpicking and Pickpocketing.

Alchemy

Strong Marigold Decoction is the standard grind. Game Rant's Alchemy guide gives the steps, about a minute a batch: water, one Nettle, flip the sandglass, two Marigold into the mortar, raise the cauldron, grind, pour. Marigold grows right outside the Troskowitz apothecary's alchemy station and Nettle along the road west of its shed, and both regrow after an in-game week if Henry leaves the area.

Perks and a potion speed it up. Game Rant says Wonders of Nature (Scholarship 8) gives 20% more XP to Survival and Alchemy, and from Alchemy 16 a Fox potion gives 50% more XP for two days. Brewing 20 potions unlocks the hidden perk Lab Dweller. Recipes are on Alchemy and Potion Recipes.

Craftsmanship

Craftsmanship rises with every repair and every blade forged. Game Rant's blacksmithing guide lists laundry, repair kits, grindstone sharpening and smithing, plus books and paying a blacksmith for tips. PCGamesN adds the perk Keen Eye (Craftsmanship 10), which turns paid repairs into XP. Forging 50 items unlocks the hidden perk Hammered. See Blacksmithing.

Scholarship, Survival and the rest

Scholarship rises by reading. PCGamesN says to buy books from Scribe Gaibl in Troskowitz and Scribe Erazim at Trosky Castle, read every book found, explore, and finish tasks that teach 15th-century customs. A TheGamer study guide says to sit, choose Study from the Books tab and pick a duration, and higher Scholarship reads faster.

The remaining skills follow their names. PCGamesN says Drinking rises by drinking often, Horsemanship by riding, and Houndmaster by taking Mutt everywhere. Game Rant's Houndmaster guide names the Troskowitz scribe's Houndmaster books as the fastest route. Survival rises with herbs and hunting, and Wonders of Beasts, Man and Nature each speed two skills (PCGamesN). See Mutt the Dog and Horses.

What slows leveling

Hardcore Mode can cut XP. Its negative perk Numbskull makes Henry gain experience 40% slower, PCGamesN reports, and Bashful cuts Speech XP by 20%, according to Game Rant. See Hardcore Mode.
