The premise
The story begins a couple of weeks after the first game ends. Game Rant's hands-on preview put it this way: about seven years have passed for players but only weeks for Henry, Sigismund is the overarching antagonist, and Otto von Bergow has sided with him. Henry still wants revenge for his parents and his father's sword, and he and Hans are riding to Trosky to deliver a letter, as TheGamer's guide to returning characters sums it up.
Deep Silver's own description is a story of "revenge, betrayal, and discovery" that runs "from a humble blacksmith's forge to the court of Kings" (Deep Silver). The real history behind it (Wenceslas IV, Sigismund, the silver of Kuttenberg) is on Historical Background, and the people on Characters, Henry of Skalitz, Hans Capon and Jan Žižka.
Every main quest in order
Spoilers for the whole main story follow.
The order is PCGamesN's quest list (May 20, 2025). In Kuttenberg the order varies: Game Rant's list differs from PCGamesN's, TheGamer says Into the Underworld and The Devil's Pack can be done in either order after Speak of the Devil, and Taking French Leave opens only once Via Argentum is reported. Two quests share the name Last Rites: the prologue and quest 31, which replays the same siege at greater length (TheGamer).

Sources: PCGamesN's quest list for the order, and the walkthroughs listed under Sources for each quest. TheGamer's length guide counts 33 story quests before the credits (TheGamer); Game Rant and PCGamesN count 32.
Act one: Trosky
The first act is a run of bad luck that turns into a war. The game opens on a flash-forward to the siege of Suchdol with Godwin at the gate, then jumps back to Henry marching toward Trosky (Game Rant's preview). In Easy Riders an attack at a pond leaves Henry wounded at the bottom of a cliff, and early on he loses many of his levels; PCGamesN puts this linear introduction at about two hours. The prologue ends with two open goals: an invitation to the wedding and Henry's lost dog, Mutt.
The wedding is the act's first big choice. Henry can earn his invitation through the blacksmith Radovan in Tachov or the miller Kreyzl in Lower Semine, and picking one route closes the other (Game Rant's points of no return). The wedding at Semine ends in a brawl and a cell, Henry cures Captain Thomas to save Hans from the gallows, and the pair finally enter Otto von Bergow's service.
Nebakov is where the act turns. Henry and Hans find that its garrison is hiding the bandits who attacked them, Istvan Toth is working with them, and Olda Semine is one of them; naming Olda to von Bergow leads to Semine burning (Game Rant's Necessary Evil walkthrough). After a feast, von Bergow's army marches on Nebakov, Godwin takes over for a quest, Toth is unmasked as Sigismund's agent, and Jan Žižka's men become Henry's allies.
The act ends in defeat and escape. Von Bergow switches sides and storms Nebakov with Sir Markvart and the Prague militia; the cannon called the Finger of God knocks everyone out, and Henry wakes in Trosky's dungeon (Game Rant). In Storm, Katherine frees the group, Henry kills Istvan Toth and takes Radzig's longsword, and von Bergow's orders point to Kuttenberg (Game Rant's Storm walkthrough). The full act is on Main Quests in Trosky, and the region on Trosky Region.
Act two: Kuttenberg
The second act moves to Suchdol, the silver city of Kuttenberg and the camps around it. A cutscene after Storm carries Henry to the new map; once The Sword and the Quill and Speak of the Devil are done he can roam it freely and ride back to Trosky at any time (Game Rant). Margrave Jobst refuses to shelter the robber knight called the Dry Devil, so Henry and Žižka free him themselves.
The middle of the act is a plot against Sigismund. Henry works through Kuttenberg's underworld to John of Liechtenstein, finds a secret mint, gathers the Dry Devil's men and breaks Hans out of Maleshov. In The King's Gambit he serves wine to Sigismund at the town hall while Godwin wins allies for Jobst (TheGamer); then Sigismund's attack on the Jewish Quarter, an undercover stint in his camp and a night raid on Maleshov follow. The act's set piece is The Italian Job, in which Godwin poses as a Cardinal while Henry raids the silver of the Italian Court (TheGamer).
The finale is the siege of Suchdol. Sigismund retreats, Erik challenges Henry to a duel, and Markvart von Aulitz's attack on Suchdol cuts it short (Game Rant). Five quests of siege follow: Henry commands, raids and starves inside the walls, then slips through the Praguers' camp with Samuel to bring Jobst's army, while Godwin replays the opening battle. In Judgment Day the allies retake Suchdol, Radzig gives Henry the sword at last, and Henry's parents judge him in a vision (TheGamer). The full act is on Main Quests in Kuttenberg.
Choices that change the story
Most choices change who lives and how people see Henry rather than the plot. Game Rant and TheGamer's endings guide name the ones with lasting effects:
- Wedding Crashers: Radovan's route or Kreyzl's; the other closes.
- Necessary Evil: hide Olda Semine's name, or name him and then side with the Semines or with Hashek at Semine.
- Dancing with the Devil: duel the Dry Devil to save the village of Maleshov, or let it burn.
- Reckoning: spare or kill Vauquelin Brabant and Markvart von Aulitz, and take Samuel along (he lives, the silver is lost) or leave him (he is hanged).
- The whole game: theft and needless killing count against Henry when his parents judge him.
Secret endings sit in the middle of the story too: killing Sigismund in The King's Gambit ends the game on a screen saying Wenceslas returns to the throne (Game Rant). All of them are on Endings, and the romances that run through the story on Romance.
How long the story is
The main story takes about 50 hours. PCGamesN's length guide gives about 50 hours for the story, about 80 with extras and over 120 for everything, from its own play; TheGamer gives 60 to 80 hours with some Side Quests and more than 150 for 100%. Game Rant's list puts the main story at roughly 50 hours and everything past 100 (Game Rant). Warhorse has not published its own figure.
The story DLCs
Three paid story expansions add to the story outside the main quest line. Brushes with Death follows the painter Voyta, Legacy of the Forge rebuilds the forge of Henry's adoptive father Martin in Kuttenberg, and Mysteria Ecclesiae investigates an illness in the quarantined Sedletz Monastery; Game Rant says the last two start after The Sword and the Quill and Speak of the Devil (Game Rant). Prices and dates are on DLC and Expansion Pass.

Historical BackgroundKingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is set in Bohemia in 1403, during the war between King Wenceslas IV and his half-brother Sigismund of Hungary, in the real Trosky Castle region and the silver town of Kuttenberg (Kutná Hora). Many characters are real people, but Warhorse aims for "historical immersion" rather than exact accuracy, and moves or invents events for the story.
