Main Quests in Kuttenberg

The Kuttenberg region holds 20 of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's 32 main quests, from The Sword and the Quill to the final quest, Judgment Day, ending with the siege of Suchdol in So It Begins..., Besieged, Hunger and Despair, Reckoning and the second Last Rites.

The Kuttenberg region holds 20 of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's 32 main quests, according to Game Rant's main quest list, from The Sword and the Quill at Suchdol to the final quest, Judgment Day. They take Henry of Skalitz and Jan Žižka from freeing the robber knight called the Dry Devil, through Kuttenberg's underworld and King Sigismund's own table, to a raid on the silver of the Italian Court and the siege of Suchdol that the game opened with. This page walks through each quest with its choices; the city and its region are on Kuttenberg, and the whole story on Story and Main Quest Walkthrough.

Spoilers for the second act and the ending follow.

The quests in order

The sections below follow PCGamesN's quest list (May 20, 2025), but the middle of the act can be played in more than one order. Game Rant's list differs from PCGamesN's; TheGamer says Speak of the Devil unlocks Into the Underworld and The Devil's Pack, which can be done in either order; and Taking French Leave starts only once Via Argentum is reported to Christian of Pisek (Game Rant).

The table of all 32 quests, with what happens in each, is on Story and Main Quest Walkthrough.

The Sword and the Quill

The Sword and the Quill opens the second act at Suchdol. Henry, Žižka and Katherine ride there and feast with Lord Pisek, according to TheGamer's walkthrough. Insult Captain Frenzl's garrison ("Your garrison is a joke") and win a first-blood duel against one of his soldiers, and Katherine rewards Henry with a Decorated Field Crossbow, which TheGamer calls missable.

The quest sets the act's goal. Margrave Jobst offers Henry a place on a legation to Rattay (TheGamer says decline) and refuses to shelter the Dry Devil, so Žižka sends Katherine to Kuttenberg to look into Hans and goes after the Dry Devil with Henry.

Speak of the Devil

Speak of the Devil frees the Dry Devil. Žižka's drunk friend Kubyenka reveals that he has been captured; TheGamer's walkthrough says to dig at Kubyenka's three spots, where the first is a decoy, the second a grave with loot and the third holds the buried hand cannons. In the ambush on the convoy one hand-cannon shot kills the armored knight, Žižka takes the heavily armored enemy while Henry attacks from behind, and the group retreats to the Devil's Den. After this quest Henry can roam the region and ride back to Trosky (Game Rant).

Into the Underworld and Via Argentum

Into the Underworld is a search through Kuttenberg's criminals for John of Liechtenstein. Game Rant's walkthrough sends Henry to Katherine at a tavern, where she names Goatskin as the man who may know; at the Hole in the Wall, intimidate Chenyek, pay him 200 groschen or fight Goliath. Madam Beata at the City Bathhouse points to Udo, Goatskin sends Henry to Samuel in the Jewish Quarter, and after 21:00 Henry infiltrates a meeting of antisemites; Samuel stops him killing the two attackers, then leads him to Liechtenstein.

Via Argentum ends at a secret mint below ground. TheGamer's guide says Buresh offers a bribe (the Large Bribe is 475 groschen) but refuses evidence against Mint Master Vavak. Knock him out or kill him for the Letter from Buresh, the Letter from Vavak and the Records Chest Key, then at night take the sleeping guards' keys and open the chest holding the Secret Mint Ledgers. Taking Christian of Pisek's bribe here matters later, in Oratores.

The Devil's Pack

The Devil's Pack gathers the Dry Devil's missing men from Kubyenka's leads. TheGamer's walkthrough lists them:

  • Bohuta will not come back, but if you pray with him at his brother's grave he gives a treasure map.
  • Ranyek was buried alive in Bylany over a dice debt: persuade, pay 700 groschen, dig him up, or fight.
  • Adder is about to be hanged by the Pschitoky butcher: pass "He belongs to the lord of Suchdol" or cut the rope fast.
  • Matthew demands 1,000 groschen of "tax" or a fight; his gang has a rare book from Sedletz.
  • Janosh is freed by treating the villager and paying the bailiff 500 groschen, or by a night jailbreak.

Taking French Leave

Taking French Leave breaks Hans out of Maleshov Castle. Rosa Ruthard explains the way in and asks Henry to find her book, Hashtal readies horses, and Henry follows the chapel window and the crosses to a stone marker and digs open a tunnel, according to Game Rant's walkthrough. Knock out Cook Drahomira for keys and Lady Ofka for Rosa's book, then open Hans's door with the Maleshov Chambers Key or by picking a hard lock.

Hans is not alone. The French knight Vauquelin Brabant is held with him, Hans has become claustrophobic and refuses the tunnel, and if Hans or Brabant dies the game is over (Game Rant). The quest ends with a reunion with friends from Rattay; Rosa is also a Romance option.

The King's Gambit

The King's Gambit is a point of no return that confines Henry to the mission area (Game Rant). Henry blackmails Vavak at the town hall, gets a waiter's outfit and certificate from Franta Kuldaun (skill checks, 1,000 groschen, or theft at night), reports to the Majordomo and serves wine at the city council, according to TheGamer's walkthrough.

TheGamer's wine orders: red is Monastery or Monastic, white is Tokaji, and Adam of Zarzitz is never served. Sigismund asks for red twice, then white, then asks Henry to drink with him; too many mistakes fail the quest.

Midway the game switches to Godwin. Margrave Jobst reveals his plan against Sigismund and Liechtenstein offers a counterplan, and Godwin wins three allies: Botscheck of Kunstadt (with Hans as suitor for his daughter), Haman Alder (after a duel with Godwin's brother Christopher) and Anna of Waldstein (by swapping documents in Alder's saddlebag), per TheGamer.

The quest hides a secret ending. Take the dagger hidden in a scroll on a desk past the chapel's wine pitchers and stab Sigismund from behind, and the game ends on a screen saying Wenceslas returns to the throne, Jan Hus is never burned and the Hussite Wars never happen (Game Rant). It is a game over; see Endings.

The Feast and Exodus

The Feast starts with Godwin drunk at a celebration with Brabant, the Dry Devil and Botschek. Liechtenstein sends him to the wine cellar, Otto von Bergow's men attack on the way back, and Henry rides to the fortress to save his friends; Liechtenstein pays 175 groschen and the quest ends meeting Kubyenka, according to TheGamer. The missable achievement Die Another Day requires saving Godwin's brother.

Exodus follows Sigismund's order to attack the Jewish Quarter. Kubyenka's wagon takes Henry and Samuel to the city, a secret passage leads in, and Henry clears an inn (one enemy in the kitchen, three upstairs) while Liechtenstein looks for documents, per TheGamer's walkthrough. A room upstairs from the kitchen holds the book Master Studies II, which the game does not point out. Henry rescues Samuel's mother Sara and only has to survive four or five minutes when Erik arrives with many soldiers.

The Lion's Den

The Lion's Den sends Henry undercover into Sigismund's camp. Game Rant's guide says to bring at least 800 groschen; get in through Opatowitz by sneaking or bribing a guard, find Katherine in the bathhouse, and enlist with Stephen Crow. For Commander Katz, find lost soldiers hiding at Old Lhota and recover the charter; Chertan is found stabbed and dies, poisoned with Kiss of Death.

The quest ends in a trial. Henry defends the physician Musa of Mali by accusing Stephen Crow, who tries to flee and is sentenced to death, or teams up with Crow to frame Grozav; then Henry leaves with Katz's troop and Žižka ambushes the Praguers (Game Rant). Killing enough of Sigismund's soldiers here, by poisoning their food and wine or killing them in their sleep, shows a secret victory screen (Game Rant).

Dancing with the Devil

Dancing with the Devil is a night attack on Maleshov to capture von Bergow. At the Dry Devil's base, Žižka plans the raid; the Dry Devil kills a villager and wants to burn the village of Maleshov to draw soldiers out of the castle, according to TheGamer. Stopping him takes a duel. Letting him burn it (or losing) means killing more villagers and their reinforcements, but the castle has fewer guards.

Henry and Samuel climb in by ladder and open the gate. Von Bergow, holding Rosa hostage, surrenders peacefully if Henry passes the check "Ransom would be a solution for both parties" (TheGamer). Saving Maleshov does not change events, but TheGamer says it affects how other characters react to Henry and counts toward the better ending. Getting past the Praguers' gate in Reckoning is much harder if Henry took part in the Maleshov slaughter (Game Rant).

Oratores and The Italian Job

Oratores plans the theft of Sigismund's silver and is a point of no return. At Suchdol, von Bergow is questioned without bloodshed and reveals that stealing silver from the Italian Court would hurt Sigismund; Henry carries Rosa through a flooded tunnel, and the royal treasury key turns up in Vavak's toilet, according to TheGamer's walkthrough. Christian of Pisek cooperates if Henry took his bribe; otherwise he must be killed. At Loretz the Cardinal flees on a fast horse, so a fast horse or the Good Old Pebbles perk helps. Game Rant says Oratores fails Bellatores, The Thunderstone and The White Roebuck after a warning, so finish those first.

The Italian Job is the heist. Godwin poses as the Cardinal at the Italian Court (a St. Barbara Figurine from a trader on the way helps), and backing Sedletz with "Calm Down" in the council dispute earns the True Cardinal achievement, per TheGamer's walkthrough. Henry stealth-kills guards, frees the captured lords in the crypt and talks Csaba Molnar down; the armory holds the Milanese Cuirass. The group holds the outer bailey against Erik's army and escapes by tunnel to Ruthard Palace, where Brabant is revealed as a traitor trying to steal the silver.

Civitas Pragensis

Civitas Pragensis is a lull with an optional duel. Žižka announces that Sigismund has retreated, Henry says goodbye to Rosa, and Kubyenka, believed dead, returns with Erik's challenge, according to TheGamer. Refuse and the quest ends; accept and Henry rides out from Suchdol's outer bailey gate to fight Erik, which TheGamer calls the hardest fight so far. Game Rant says the duel gives no loot, only combat experience. Erik loses and goads Henry to kill him, but Markvart von Aulitz's attack on Suchdol cuts it short, and Erik is last seen wounded but alive (Game Rant).

The siege of Suchdol

So It Begins... opens the siege. Henry knocks down ladders and throws boulders at the gate; next morning Žižka makes him a commander and has him recruit men, and a night assault follows a suspicious guard's attack at the eastern palisade, according to TheGamer. Telling Christian of Pisek "Žižka should make that decision" raises reputation. The game sets the siege in 1403; Historical Background covers the history.

Besieged is a raid and an interrogation. Žižka asks Henry to choose three men for a raid, and TheGamer says any choice works and everyone survives. Henry questions a prisoner with the Dry Devil (one line is "Sigismund betrayed you. Why be loyal to him?"), then shoots gunners on the walls with a bow.

Hunger and Despair is the low point. Hans asks for food and Janosh has none; TheGamer says to pick a wine chest's lock, or have Musa cook soup from Lady Frenzl's lambskin shoes, which voids the Lent achievement even if nobody drinks it. Henry pushes down four ladders on the north wall and clears the tower, and Žižka sends him and Samuel for reinforcements. Katherine's romance, or a kiss goodbye with Hans, can happen here.

Reckoning is the run through the enemy camp. Henry and Samuel must reach Margrave Jobst's army through the Praguers' camp; Game Rant's walkthrough says a Praguers' Hemmed Waffenrock disguises him, the password changes between playthroughs, and there is a hole in the west wall by a smokehouse and a way in from the east along the stream. Brabant is interrogating Samuel: beat him, then spare or kill him, and he can tell you Markvart von Aulitz is in the village's largest house, where you can kill him or leave him.

Reckoning's last choice is Samuel. Taking him along slows the ride, so the Praguers take Suchdol's silver but Samuel lives; leaving him means the Praguers hang him outside Suchdol, and a Markvart left alive dies overnight of his wounds (TheGamer's endings guide). TheGamer says the Samuel choice does not affect Henry's honor.

Last Rites and Judgment Day

Last Rites is the opening battle played in full as Godwin. He gets drunk with Hans, calms Christian of Pisek, shoots from the ramparts and knocks down ladders, then follows the Dry Devil, starting with a polearm, a sword and a crossbow, per TheGamer. The cutscene shows Henry and Samuel returning with reinforcements, and Hanush, Radzig, Jobst and Henry attacking the Praguers.

Judgment Day, the final quest, retakes Suchdol. Fight through the outer bailey, kill Lamprecht of Prague (TheGamer recommends a pistol), raise the gate and clear the courtyard, according to TheGamer's walkthrough. If Samuel lived, sharpen Hanush's sword and return it, and Hanush tells you about Capon's wedding; if not, take Samuel's body down from the gallows for a funeral.

The quest ends the story. Radzig finally gives Henry his sword, and Henry's parents appear in a vision and judge his deeds; past actions decide what they say, not dialogue choices (TheGamer). After the credits Sigismund hears about his stolen silver, and the game returns Henry to the world to finish side quests (Screen Rant). The outcomes are on Endings.
